[00:00:00]
Hey, hey, what's up, my man? It's Sathya Sam here. Welcome to Unleash the Man Within. Thank you so much for listening. I'm so glad you're here. Honored you took a little bit of time out of your day to To listen in. Look, we got some really good content for you today. I'm super excited to share it with you.
Some really interesting stuff that's actually been going on in the world in regards to pornography. Uh, before I jump into that really quickly, um, if you don't have a copy of my book, The Last Relapse, make sure you go get it. It's available at thelastrelapsebook. com. This is really just my recovery [00:01:00] guide to help as many people as possible.
Thousands of people have a copy of this and have benefited from it. I would love for you to get your hands on it as well. It does come with a free workbook and look if you're more of a physical person, you know You want the the actual book you want to thumb through the pages You can buy anywhere books are sold and all the money we make off that book gets donated To a charity in uganda that furthers the gospel in muslim villages So look, it's a win win either way.
You can get your free copy at TheLastRelapseBook. com or you can get a physical copy anywhere that books are sold. Amazon obviously being the big one, but you can pretty much get it anywhere. Okay, what we're going to talk about today is really interesting. This was inspired by Uh, something that happened in March, so you know, we're going back about two months now.
Uh, but basically, I'm going to give a little bit of context and then we'll kind of explain what's been going on. So probably about a year ago there were states in America that began to require age verification for somebody to enter a [00:02:00] porn site.
With an IP address in their state. Okay. So for example, uh, one of them was, I believe was Virginia. So actually I stand corrected. There are 8 states, 8 states that have enacted age verification laws since 2022. Um, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Utah, and Virginia. And so basically what this means is if you are under the age of 18, And you go to a porn site, of course, in general, you always get a pop up that says, you know, you have to agree that you are over 18 years of age, which is a joke because anybody can click that box.
Uh, but more importantly, and beyond that, now, if you go to a site, um, it's not just that you have to click a box, you actually have to submit proof or verification, you know, a license or that kind of thing to show that you are in fact of age. Now, this is a really good step in the right direction. Um, because it, It just shows that our lawmakers are actually thinking about our minors, and the research is so, it's gosh, it's so evident now how damaging pornography is [00:03:00] to minors, um, that, you know, I think we need to protect them at all costs.
And I do think by the time someone's 18 or 19, if they haven't been exposed to porn yet, And they would like to, you know, that's unfortunate, but the impact of it is a lot less than somebody getting exposed when they're eight, nine, 10, 12, even, you know, 15, 16 years old. Uh, the development's different, you know, uh, the male brain.
fully developed until 25. So it'd be great to say that, see that, that age go even higher. Uh, but you know, it is what it is. So this has been going on for a while and, and trust me, that number's going to go up. Maybe even by the time this episode comes out, we'll have another state or two that have been added because there, there's lots more that are passing these age verification laws.
Texas decided to do it as well. Okay. So Texas decides to, they're going to pass age verification and Pornhub, the, you know, world's mega giant of pornography, basically said, no, you know, screw you guys, like, [00:04:00] stop it. And what I would have to guess that if you broke down, you know, by state, where are people watching, Texas probably just has a large contingent.
That's, that's just a guess. I don't know. Um, But Pornhub was really upset about this and basically what they said is, You know what, we're just going to remove our site from all of Texas. So if you have a Texas IP address, then forget you, you can't access our stuff. And Texas said, Great! Awesome! Good. Like, Ooh, you know, we were trying to get rid of you guys anyway.
So Texas now has gone as far as to ban pornography. And, um, it's just interesting, you know, it's interesting, the state of affairs that we're in, people are starting to become more aware of it. And I, I really, truly believe things are going in the right direction. Okay, on March 14th is when all of this broke and so lots of people had wrote articles.
You know, one of the first was CBS News and basically the headline on March 14th read Pornhub blocks access in [00:05:00] Texas in dispute over age verification law. Okay, now I didn't know that this had happened on March 14th. Um, it was probably two or three days later and someone was talking to me about it. I was actually talking to, I think I was talking to my doctor and he was like, yeah, we were in Texas recently and like a bunch of my buddies were talking about how they couldn't access Porn and whatever, you know, my doctor's not a, not a believer in obviously, uh, not in, in those arenas.
He's, uh, he actually, he's, he's on, um, staff with, uh, one of the NHL teams. So I think he was traveling with the team and they were, they had an interesting discussion about it. And he, he told me that Texas had banned porn and I didn't really believe him. I'm like, I didn't think you could really do that. Um, and anyways, kind of dug deeper in and then saw this article.
Okay. So this is the headline. I already read it once. I'm just going to read it to you again. Pornhub blocks access in Texas in dispute over age. Verification law. Okay. That's March 14th. Okay. This news broke. Uh, yeah. March 14th, March 15th. An article comes out of PC. This is the title. Okay. Listen to this.
Pornhub block expands to Texas. Here's [00:06:00] how to watch anyway. Pornhub block expands to Texas. Here's how to watch anyway. This is the subtitle, okay, or the subheading, the lead in. To protest age verification laws, Pornhub blocks access in Texas, following Utah, Montana, and more. VPNs can help you get around that, but this type of legislation is part of a troubling trend.
Okay, um, wow, so many comments, so much to say about this. But the first thing I will say is, number one, there's always a workaround. And it's actually highlighted in that last statement I just read. A VPN. You know, it gives you a chance to have an IP address. That's from a different location and there will always be a workaround.
Okay. Um, and I thought it was interesting that they referred to this as a troubling trend, because obviously, um, I don't see anything troubling about it. In fact, I would say it's quite healthy and it's good that we're protecting minors. It's weird to think that people would be against that. I don't really understand how that's possible, but here's [00:07:00] the thing I ultimately want to get across legalities.
Legalities do not cure porn addiction. Legalities do not cure porn addiction. So am I grateful to see these age verification laws being reinstated? Believe you me, I'm over the moon. And I pray that it happens more and more and more. However, even if we were fully blocked, okay, and I've said this before, if somebody masterfully destroyed the porn industry tomorrow and it ceased to exist as we know it, humanity at large would still have a problem because the reason people are watching Has a more to do with the heart than anything else.
So you can put them in different environments. It's issues of the human heart that drive porn consumption. And so we definitely give a loud hoorah. We're excited to see the age verification laws developing, but admittedly they just don't fix porn addiction, you know, and they don't fix issues of the heart.
And this is another great example of a. Surface level solution. [00:08:00] If you're a porn addict. Okay, again, for society at large, this is much more than a surface level issue. It's phenomenal. But if you're trying to quit pornography, you know, yeah, there's internet filters. And yeah, you can up spiritual disciplines.
And yeah, we can pray that legislation would maybe make it harder to access. Those are all temporary fixes long term. If we want to see some systemic change, we got to get to the roots of the issue. You gotta get to the matters of the heart. That's where true freedom lies. And so I encourage you to keep an eye on these things.
I think it's exciting to see that the trend is changing. And at the same time, if you're struggling with pornography, don't wait, don't wait on the laws to fix things for you because they can't and they won't. You have to fix things for you. You gotta do the work. You gotta get to the roots, but when you do.
You'll be so glad you did. Your life will get better. You will not have to worry about whether or not the laws protect you because you will be protecting yourself. That's a much safer, it's a much happier and so much healthier place to be anyway. So that's everything. Thank you guys so much for listening.
Have an amazing day. We'll [00:09:00] talk soon. Bye bye. [00:10:00]
