So here's the million dollar question. How are men like us who work hard, have good motives and a God given purpose, supposed to fulfill the calling on our lives and the dreams in our hearts, all while establishing sexual integrity, thriving relationships and a meaningful connection with God? That is the question. And this podcast will give you the answers. My name is Sathiya Sam, welcome to unleash the man with them
what's up everybody, it's Sathiya Sam here, welcome to unleash the man within. Thank you guys so much for listening, I hope you have an amazing day. And man, we are going to jump into some really, really good content today on sort of the spiritual warfare aspect of recovery. And I don't talk about this a ton. It's not necessarily the area where I feel God's called me to focus. But I cannot deny its significance at the same time. And it would be foolish of me to do so and, and so what I want to do today is I want to talk a little bit about it. And yeah, kind of a cool angle that I think is going to really help you guys. Really quick. You know, we're at the time of this episode, I'm trying to think this episode comes out the last day of February. So you might be listening to this past February. But February is a big month here for deep clean, it marks the most eighth anniversary of my recovery, I had my last relapse in February 2016. So in this case, at the time of recording, it's seven years of freedom for me. And it also marks the release of the launch rather of my book, my first ever book, The Last relapse, which came out February 2022. And so if you don't have your copy of it yet, one of my goals, probably for life, but certainly as long as deep clean is a thing is to make the last relapse as accessible to as many people as possible. And so so the last relapse is available free of charge to you at the last relapse book.com. This is a chance for you to just get basically my blueprint for recovery from A to Z, all the in betweens, tons of practical steps, a lot of research a lot of science, and a lot of Scripture integrated into our approach. And what we're providing here. And I know that you'll benefit from it. If you don't have a copy at the last relapse book.com is your place to get it. And the last thing I'll just say is that if you do have a copy of it, but maybe there's somebody else in your life who doesn't yet, then share it with them and pass it along to them. And you just never know. You just never know if you put out that that life preserver, like hey, here's a resource. Let's see what happens. You just never know what it could lead to and how it could change someone else's life. So the last redox book.com. That's where it all starts and ends. But today, guys, we are talking about defeating the devil with his weapons. So there's a story of David and Goliath. It's just, it's just maybe possible that you've heard of it before. Very, very famous story. Obviously. David is a young shepherd boy, he's not on the radar. And lo and behold, the Israelites are in this battle with the Philistines. The Philistines have Goliath hoops, who stands tall and strong, he is nine feet tall, he's massive. And basically everybody is scared of him. And so as long as Goliath is around for the Philistines, the Israelites kind of just are cowering. They're strategizing. But ultimately, they're empty handed and they don't know what to do. And so David is invited to the camp, he is he's not really invited to the camp to fight necessarily. But he's more just there to, you know, to serve on the other guys, who are the actual fighters, quote, unquote. And, you know, he basically is like, what's, what's the deal? Why are we being a bunch of chickens about this? Do we not know who our God is? And so he goes to King Saul, and he basically says, Look, we can take this, we can take this guy, you know, like, like, God, God will, God will lead us and guide us. And, and so he, he ultimately saw, you know, is convinced, and he says, Okay, fine, you do your thing. And so David puts on the armor of Saul, right? He puts on, you know, this is what you wear when you go to battle. So he's like, Okay, we got to dress you up, we got to get you ready. And it's very clear that like, this stuff is not fitting, it's not working. And David's actual words, in my my translation, at least it says, he says, I cannot go on these because I'm not used to them. So you know whether they didn't fit or whatever. He obviously was not comfortable with them. So all he does is he takes five smooth stones from the stream, puts him in his pouch, and then his time comes and he basically slings his stone at the forehead of Goliath. He strikes him and and Goliath falls facedown. And they win. And what I love about this story, and the reason I want to share this with you guys today is because there is a spiritual element to recovery. I think we all know that. And we all know that even the the origins of a lot of sexual sin and myths. behavior are the result of us delving into lies partnering with the enemy in some way, shape, or form. And, you know, I don't, I don't want to give the enemy more credit than he deserves. But I also don't want to deny the fact that we would not be dismissed up if not for an enemy, who was wreaking havoc on our souls, and really working hard to get us to stumble and to fall into sin. And what I want to encourage you guys with today, is that you, you want to make sure that the weapons you wield in this recovery, fit. There's a lot of solutions out there, there's a lot of options. And they all have their place, they all serve some kind of purpose. Okay. But I want to be really clear, we all have to make sure that we are confident and comfortable wielding the weapons that are that we're using in battle. It's interesting to me that David, David wasn't like, oh, saw your armor is ugly, I'm not gonna wear it, you know, he wasn't like, oh, this stuff, you know, even like, it's kind of been depicted as like, it doesn't fit him in, in some like, you know, movies, or I'm thinking of like, even VeggieTales. For those of you who grew up with that. But the you know, the interesting thing here is like, actually, he was just saying, I'm not used to it, right? I'm not used to it, there was he wasn't comfortable, and he knew that he had to be comfortable in it. Now, here's here's a really interesting little detail from the story and something that I think really speaks to how we should be approaching spiritual warfare. David and Goliath get into a little bit of like Battle of the wits before David actually slings the stone. And David David says this, this is verse 47. First Samuel 17. He says, all those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord says for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands. In other words, it's it's a little bit of like a Gideon thing were like, they whittle down the army so much, that the army was so small, that if they won, there's no way they could ever take credit for it like it would have had to be miraculous, and God would have to get the glory. And it's kind of the same thing. And I think this is important for us. Because sometimes, we make a couple mistakes in the spiritual warfare thing. Number one, is we try to just wield all the weapons that everybody else is wielded. And in sometimes they fit in, sometimes they don't, which is why again, even the research kind of backs this up, like the research shows, that the people who get the best results in any kind of therapeutic practice, whether it's a program, whether it's ongoing psychotherapy, you know, like the one on one sessions, anything like that the best results always come when the client has high trust and high rapport with the practitioner. So that's what we always talk about, right is that you want to follow the places where you're confident that what you're doing actually fits, that you're confident that the tools that there's alignment there, because if you're confident that there's alignment, you're much more likely to actually, you know, practice them to do the things you need to do the work in between sessions, whatever it might be, then you're going to ultimately make a lot more progress. So you want to make sure it's a good fit. And there's something to be said for that. But the second thing here is that it's interesting, because when I think about, like really fighting the spiritual battle, sometimes I think about just having the weapon and fighting it myself, when David's example here is the weapons that you wield, what actually makes them strong is the power of God. And you always want to want to put yourself in a position where if you were to get victory, or when you get victory, that is in such a way that you know, you could have never done it on your own. I mean, you know, for me seven years of freedom, I look back and I think, man, I could
not have done this without the Lord, there's no, there's no living way. And granted, I learned some good things along the way. And I definitely grew maturity and I built some skill sets. I acquired some tools along the way. They all helped, but it is God who takes our efforts multiplies them, and brings about an outcome that only he could do. And I'll tell you guys, if you're diligent in your pursuit of recovery, if you're willing to try different programs, if you're willing to try some different courses, try some things here and there. This is how you figure it out. Right? Remember David David didn't look at the armor and say, Nope, not for me. He tried it on. Right. And then when he tried it on, he realized, Oh, this isn't quite the right fit. And then he went and he found something better. And we are to do the same in recovery. We we can test out the weapons we can try different things until we find the thing that works, the thing that feels right and gives us that confidence. And then you need to fire away. And so what I want to encourage you today is to just remember that that the the enemy is is there. But there are so many weapons available at your disposal to defeat his schemes and to bring him down. And it is not about having the sharpest weapon, the most powerful weapon, it's really about having the right weapon. And only you will know what that is you and the Lord. And you get to figure that out together. And the last thing is just remember, God is the multiplier of our efforts. This is true in every area of our life. And recovery is not an exception. So put forth your best effort, give it all you got. And then watch God do the rest. And you will be amazed guys, but just just again, you have to have the right weapons. Because if David went against Goliath with the wrong weapons, God would have probably spared his life, I don't think he would have given him victory. I can't say that for sure. But just just looking through the story and looking at some of the important pillars of this. That's my personal opinion. So that's speculative. But I think we can say for sure that when you have the right weapons, and you have God on your side, that's going to position you the best for victory every single time, I think we can at least agree on that. And so I hope that gives you some clarity, guys some guidance. And hey, keep fighting the fight. And remember, you know, we've talked about this before, but we do not fight for victory, we fight from victory. Knowing that Jesus has ultimately conquered the enemy, he has conquered the power of sin and darkness. And we get to walk in that more and more every single day. Hey, much love to you guys.
